Shannon Spanhake is the Deputy Innovation Officer in the Office of Mayor Edwin M. Lee in the City of San Francisco. She aims to for innovation to be an enabler of job creation, citizen engagement and government efficiency. Prior to this role, Spanhake was at a startup founded with her patent-pending technology, developed while holding a dual-appointment as a Postdoc at CalIT2 and also a Sr. Researcher at the Center for Development Finance.
